My 5 year old son had a go on a lanboard (rode one down the slope of the bomb hole) on friday night (See post in club meets), now he keep asking when he can try it again!

I am keen to encorage his interest.
Unfortunatly I don't know the first thing about power kites or landboards,
What sort of things should I be looking at? How much would some decent second hand kit cost?

Yan, there were 3 boards there. George's board is a flexi board and a bit too big and heavy for him. I reckon if you want a board then it needs to be as small, length and weight as you can find. MBS do a smaller board, its probably google time??

The next problem is finding a kite that works, George has got a Flexi Sting 1.2m. As small power kites go it is great and having flown the 1.7 and 2.4 I think the whole range are great, they are really fun even a stunt boy like you may like it Shocked .
The problem though is that they are much faster than the kites a more weighty adult will fly, and I am no boarder but I think it makes it difficult.

Just to add to the chaos, George has a small buggy aswell and he finds that much easier than boarding.
I don't think I will get up to Rougham next week, but if I do you can try the stuff we have.

Kiting and 5yr olds is difficult, its all designed for someone with weight and strength. I think George will find it easier in a year or 2.

Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks Gavin, have been looking round the internet and the mbx board and sting kites had already stood out. We definatly won't be at rougham next weekend, will you be at the weekender at all?

I think the first step will be to get Jack used to flying a different type of kite.

I'm not sure how successfull at it Jack will be, but he hasn't stopped talking about it since friday night, so have got give him a go....!

Yan Very Happy
