KITE AUCTION 2009
Fellow kite flyers,
This year at the 12th Suffolk Kite festival we aim to repeat the successful Kite Auction that we held last year with all proceeds going towards funding the 13th Suffolk Kite Festival as well as supporting the East Aglian Air Ambulance.
For this to work we need to have as many new/used kites and kite related stuff as possible up for auction.
Do you have an old kite sitting somewhere, all alone, up in that loft that could be yearning for a new home
Maybe you bought a power kite with the intention of flying it but never really got around to it.
Could be that you bought more kite lines than you really needed from ebay one day.
Possibly you’ve got a very kind heart and in an impetuous moment of madness will donate your prized Blade or Quantum Pro
Bought a Rev and can’t fly it – donate it
Could be you’re an expert flyer and would consider donating a lesson
Anything and everything is willingly taken in for the auction.
Nothing will be turned away;
Single line kites
Dual line kites
Quad line kites
Power kites
Tails
Lines
Bags
Handles
Banners
Poles
Flags
Line laundry
Other flying stuff like Frisbee’s, boomerangs etc.
Please feel free to email me at dhiggins@enorf.ac.uk with any suggestions or donation offers.
This can only work if we all try hard enough.
This is what we have so far:
nothing!
HELP - DONATE SOMETHING

funding the 13th Suffolk Kite Festival as well as supporting the East Aglian Air Ambulance. (this statement is misleading and you could probably be had up for making such a statement. if anyone really wanted to complain and screw the club over in a court room)
the reason it is misleading is !!!
funding the 13th festival ????? we don't fund it Agnew doe's then he takes all the proceeds of the festival if there is a short fall he swallows it hence the reason he moans if he doesn't make money !!!!!! and if you trawl throe the threads here you will see it is written that he does in quite a few place's ...
and the small amount of what you do make to give to the air ambulance is such a small percentage i for one as well of many other power kiters and some of the stands who gave you stuff thought it took the pee to pocket 80% of the proceeds for the club .......I.E Edgerider's gave you gear for the auction i cant remember exactly what with out asking Charlie... but for every 100 quids worth of gear someone gives you £20 goes to charity and £80 goes into the club coffer's ... he was told it was for a CHARITY auction as was the other stands. He and Jon where not amused when i told him that was the score ...
and on the other hand just how much gear would anyone have left laying around when 12 months ago they gave it all to the auction then ......
i will also add the money you spent ,over a grand on a poorly manufactured bad quality thin as anything ripstop teddy kite was way over priced ...
not that anyone will give a toss what i say anyway never have so why now?
yes the idea may be a sound one but 20% to charity it should be more like 70% goes to the air ambulance and the rest goes to club ...
it is all over the flyer's and the advertising in aid of the air ambulance it's on radio adverts i heard as well ... so if your creaming it in the adverts at least give em something worth while giving them and not pocketing the majority of it.......
P.S i have taken a copy of this post the time date the lot if it is removed from this forum like the last posts i have made that you haven't liked i will repost this elsewhere .... _________________ if you expect to be treated right respect those who put in all the work!!!

Doc, I do agree with you on the low percentage that was given to charity but if there wasn't a club there would be no auction or festival! The club does need some £$£$ to run. _________________

Doc
Don't forget that before the auction we got an income from a raffel.
After last year's auction we were able to buy new power kites for use at the festival for tandem buggy rides plus other events like Hyde Hall.
Yes the teddy was expensive but these types of kites are made to order and not available off the shelf like blades and most other kites etc. that's why they cost more and we didn't get a very good discount like I managed to obtain on the power kites
I still feel that the club should make money out of the festival for all the hard work all members put in to it. Why not !!
The money made benifits us all
The Air Ambulance were very pleased with our donation and sent us a letter to thank us . £300 is a good amount

no disrespect mate but the air ambulance will send a thank you letter to most people who donate over about 50 quid mate probably less they are very grateful yes but in the grand skeam of things martin 300 quid is not alot when you bear in mind how much was raised ...
yes the club should make money and that should be made from the public not the skf member by buying other members stuff of the club ....... thats what we as club member do we support the club by being a member SOME of us help out and do all the events while others cream of the big events n lord it around mate ... not aimed at you martin but to those not sure think about it and if the cap fits wear it... _________________ if you expect to be treated right respect those who put in all the work!!!

Don't forget Doc the guys who spent the most money were not members of the club. Norman's cody went to somebody who lives in Hants. Plus a lot of other stuff was sold to non-members of SKF
I agree that chilli Jeff spent a lot on the Auction
It's the same in all clubs that I have been a member of, a small band of members do all the work. Nothing has changed and will never change in that respect
Why did you put 2 posts up the same ?
Finally, if anybody agree's with Doc re the amount we donate, please let me know - cheers

Firstly if Charlie felt he was not given the full details of the kite auction and duped then I think this should have been formerly taken up with him and anyone else with a similar thought who donated an auction item. As I assume nothing was done about that I will call him this afternoon.
I happen to think the club should get a financial benefit from the festival for 2 reasons, first alot of work goes into by the club and why shouldn't they get a reward and second the club needs additional funds over and above the subs to cover the costs and gear that are used. |

yes mate i agree with you the club needs funds but not from a membership that already pays for the privalge of being a member ......
make it thro the festival from the public not us .............
and to be honest you ring Charlie and he will probably say he hasn't a problem now .....because he is like that a nice bloke he would rather have nothing else to do with it as he hasnt made a penny at either of the festivals he was at ..... last one he didnt even cover costs and time mate ....
i used example because ino that is the case you DO NOT need to ring him why the frig would you ??? _________________ if you expect to be treated right respect those who put in all the work!!!
